Hello! Happy almost-Thanksgiving! 😉 I can’t wait to eat lots of amazing food…..
I’m excited to have finished Part 9 of The Smallones – the next to last part! The Finale will be tomorrow! 😀
The Smallones: Part 9
I walked through the clover, looking for the Smallones.
I suddenly saw them. They were looking for Lora….
The Queen sat in the middle of everyone. “She could be hurt! Or sick! Or…” She was crying.
“Mother!” Lora called, running forward.
The Queen jumped up and ran to embrace her daughter. “You’re alive! Where have you been? I’ve been so worried!”
“I’ve been…. doing something important.” Lora said carefully. She gestured behind her. “Meet Ava!”
“Um… hello!” I said cautiously.
The Queen gasped with horror. “What-how….”
She fainted dead away.
“Oh no…. MOTHER!! WAKE UP!!” Lora yelled, trying to revive her. The Queen didn’t stir.
“Umm… everyone listen!” I called, trying to help.
The Smallones looked up and noticed me. There was a collective gasp as they all dashed for cover.
Chloe made no attempt to chase them this time – she’d learned her lesson.
“Please! I won’t hurt you, I promise. You’ll all die if you don’t listen to me.”
I heard a few cautious murmurs.
I took a deep breath. “Okay. So, as you know, the Queen possesses a magical stone…”
I proceeded to tell them everything Lora had told me.
When I was done, Lora slowly walked forward with Obsidain. “The Queen is currently…. unavailable.” she said. “However, I’m sure she would agree with Ava. We need to go with her, or we’ll all die.”
The Smallones spoke among themselves for a few minutes while I stood there, nervously waiting.
The clover shook and a small girl emerged. “We’ll come!” she said quietly.
I breathed a sigh of relief. “Everyone, follow me!”
As we left the clover, the sun had just begun to set. I led the scraggly line through the field.
Lora dragged along the Queen, who was still passed out.
All of a sudden, the ground trembled slightly. A deep rumble filled the air. Back in the clover patch, something began to glow.
“Oh no! We’re too late!” Lora shouted. “We’ll never get away in time – The stone is backfiring right now!”
“Everyone RUN!!!” I shouted. As I ran, I scooped up as many Smallones as I could. The noise was deafening now.
“GET DOWN!!” Lora screamed.
An enormous explosion filled the air.
Then all was quiet.
Lora raised her head, counting everyone.
She let out a breath. “Everyone’s here. We’re safe.”
To be continued…
I’m sad and relived at the same time to be almost done with this series! Have you enjoyed it? Are you excited for the finale? I sure am! 😛
Have an amazing Thanksgiving!
