What’s up, everyone? How is your day going? I hope you enjoy my eighth random post. 🙂
Random Topic #1: The Alligator
We have an alligator in our pond, guys:
(Sorry about the photo quality, he’s quite hard to capture on camera.) This alligator is only a baby right now, and he’s actually kind of cute. Unfortunately, alligators are carnivores, and we have goats, and yeah. I think you can see where this is going. So we’re going to relocate him to a goat-free area soon. 😛
If you could name him, what name would you choose?
Random Topic #2: Eye Photography
I decided to try taking pictures of some of my family member’s eyes. Here is the result:
Most everyone in my family has blue eyes, but my dad has green eyes.
My sister (and partner in crime.) 😉
My brother… (my eyes are about this color, but a little darker.)
My baby brother, Ezra. ❤
Finally Lila, who has amazingly big and blue eyes. Aren’t they pretty?
Yes, I have a lot of siblings. 😄
Random Topic #3: Name Troubles
As you hopefully know, my name is Clara. BUT FOR SOME REASON, THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE SEEMS TO ENJOY CALLING ME CLAIRE. *composes self* *takes a deep breath* Someone calls me “Claire” pretty much every time I leave the house. I understand that “Clara” and “Claire” sound very similar, but what really drives me crazy is when I write my name (C-L-A-R-A) and someone reads it out loud as “Claire”. We were in a sandwich shop the other day, and the way it works is you write your name down and then they read it out loud when your order is ready. Last time we went there, they yelled out “Claire”, so this time I wrote my name as “ClarA” with an enormous “A” at the end. THEY STILL CALLED ME CLAIRE. *sigh* I give up. I’m doomed to a life of Claire.
Do people often mispronounce/misspell your name?
Random Topic #4: School Music
I don’t know about you guys, but I really love listening to something while I’m doing school. Though some music and soundtracks are distracting, I’ve found 2 really cool sites that have some great stuff to listen to while you’re doing schoolwork.
This site is amazing. Some of you may recognize the name Adam Young from the band Owl City. Well, that same guy composed a bunch of instrumental music that’s inspired by different important events throughout history. It’s all really unique and amazing, and I highly recommend listening to it! Some that I recommend listening to are Corduroy Road and Omaha Beach.
#2: Ambient Mixer
This site doesn’t have music – it has audio tracks. It’s kinda hard to explain, so imagine this: You plug in your headphones, click a few buttons, and suddenly you’re surrounded by the sounds of the Hogwarts Gryffindor common room. The crackling fire, the quiet conversations of students, the rustling of parchment, the winter wind outside the castle. All of these sounds fill your ears, even though you’re sitting in your own quiet bedroom. That’s what this site does. Here’s a link to my favorite audio track they have, Studying at Hogwarts. There are soundtracks for all of the Hogwarts common rooms, plus hundreds more, from thunderstorms to purring cats. Listening to these while working on school is beyond amazing. 🙂
Do you enjoy listening to something while you work?
Random Topic #5: Google or Bing?
It’s about time someone polled the general blogosphere on this extremely important subject:
*whispers* Google is best! Vote Google!
Random Topic #6: Art Attempts
I recently discovered that I really love to draw, even if I’m not very good. It’s relaxing and fun. 😀 Here are some of my recent creations:
I draw a bible verse each week in church. I’ve picked a few of my favorites to show you guys:
I especially like the last one. 🙂 Now for some random sketches and such:
A pair of sunglasses….
These are the lyrics from a really pretty song called Truce by Twenty One Pilots.
A pack of gum. XD
More song lyrics! This one is Something Beautiful by NEEDTOBREATHE.
This is an unfinished sketch I did on our last road trip.
I’ve been trying for a while now to draw a somewhat realistic face. Man, it’s hard. This is the closest I’ve gotten so far, but I’m going to keep trying. 😀
Finally, I have an eye I drew using Allison’s tutorial. This took me quite a while, and it got a bit smudged, but overall I think it turned out pretty well. 🙂
*runs away screaming as the really good artists gaze disapprovingly at my amateur work*
Do you like to draw? Do you have any tips/suggestions for me? I’d love to hear them!
Random Topic #7: New Profile Picture
I decided my old profile picture was a little outdated, so I took a new one. Here it is:
Thanks to my mom for taking it for me. 😉 Do you like it? If someone told me 2 years ago that I would sit in the middle of the road while reading a book for the sake of a photograph, I wouldn’t have believed them. 😄
Random Topic #8: Poetry
Okay, guys. I mentioned in my Summer Goals post that I’ve been writing a lot of poetry lately, and I asked if y’all would like to read some of it. A lot of people said yes, so here goes.
s m i l e
I see you in the grocery store
standing alone in the aisle
your deep frown is reflected
in the scuffed and dirty tile
the cashier cracks a funny joke
as the groceries unpile
you chuckle –
it’s a rusty sound.
I can see
you haven’t practiced in a while
as I watch
I mentally remind myself
never to forget
how to smile
So…. yeah, that’s one of my poems. I see so many people who look so sad and lonely, as if they haven’t smiled or laughed in a long time. This poem is kinda about the fact that it’s okay to be sad, but it’s important not to forget how to smile. Would you like to read some more poetry in another post? 🙂
That’s it for today! You may have noticed that I asked you guys a good bit of questions in this post. I’d love if you would answer them in the comments. 😀
