State Fair Photography // 2017

We went to the state fair yesterday! It was super fun. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ve never gone before except to show animals, so this was the first time I’ve ever been able to explore the actual fair. I took over 1000 pictures in a few hours…. whoops. XD Thankfully I was able to narrow them down to a somewhat smaller amount. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures!

When we first got to the fair at around 8:30 AM, it was foggy and extremely humid. We hoped that the humidity would drop as the day went on, but sadly it only got hotter and more humid. ๐Ÿ˜›

The first thing we did was watch a pony show where a bunch of adorable kids with equally adorable miniature ponies paraded around a ring while dressed up in costumes. It wasn’t terribly exciting, but there was a pony wearing a unicorn horn. So that made up for the boringness of it. XD

There was also a part where adults showed some ponies, and I got these photos of a lady with her rather wild-acting pony. I liked how this one looked in black and white, so I edited them all that way. ๐Ÿ™‚

There was a building filled with different breeds of rabbits, all of which looked very hot and sleepy. One of the cages was empty with this sign on it.ย ๐Ÿ˜‚

Isn’t this cow adorable? โค

Here’s some more black and white photos. ๐Ÿ™‚

This was probably one of the coolest things we did at the fair – we got to watch a chick hatch out of an egg! (Maybe that’s a normal sight to some of you, but not for me. XD) It was so neat to watch.

I also had cotton candy for the first time! WOW, that stuff is sweet. It’s like a heavenly cloud of sugar and happiness. XD

There was a building full of art/photography, and it was super fun to explore. This guy was painting when we walked by. I kinda wanted to stay and watch him finish the painting, but that would have taken forever. It was neat to see him work even for a minute, though!

I took a ton of Ferris wheel pictures. You have been warned.

I love how colorful the fair is! It makes almost anything an interesting photo just because of the wide array of bright colors.

The people on this ride were screaming like crazy. XD

At one point, we walked through a big tent that was filled with interesting animals, plus a few more common ones like goats and sheep. ๐Ÿ˜›

Hello, Ms. Giraffe!

This adorable donkey seemed quite interested in my camera.

The animal tent was one of the few shady places in the fair. It was SO. HOT. We would sigh with relief every time we walked into a building with air conditioning. XD

We watched a show/demonstration thingy done by this reptile rescue guy. He talked about how to tell a venomous snake from a harmless one, and how you should treat a snake to keep from being bitten. Did you know that harmless snakes can move the bones in their head to make it look like they’re venomous? (Venomous snakes have triangle-shaped heads.) I thought that was pretty fascinating.

By around 2:00, the heat had become so bad that everyone was begging for something to drink, so we went and got some lemonade. It was extremely cold and delicious. I think any cold drink tastes about twice as good when it’s ninety degrees outside.

Here’s my little brother, Ezra. If you look closely, you can see that his face got somewhat sunburned – he wasn’t the only one. XD I currently resemble a tomato. *sigh*

This clock tower is where you’re supposed to go if you get lost. I imagine it would be pretty exciting yet terrifying to get lost in the fair. ๐Ÿ˜›

Thank you, Random Sunburned Guy, for unknowingly being the subject of my photo. Your head will now be on my blog for the world to see. You’re welcome.

This man was dressed like a Transformer. He folded himself up into a car shape and drove around, much to the amazement of the nearby kids. He must have been really hot in that costume….

See? I told you I took a ton of Ferris wheel photos. XD

Okay, guys, I REALLY LOVE THIS PICTURE. What are your thoughts on it?

Just looking at this crazy ride made me feel sick. How does anyone ride those things?? XD

The kid’s face in the back of the purple car makes me laugh every time I look at this photo. XD

ย Whew! That was a lot of pictures. If you made it to the end, then THANK YOU! ๐Ÿ˜€ I had a lot of fun at the fair, and I hope we get to go back next year!

Have you ever been to a fair? If so, what’s your favorite thing to do there?

  1. Those photos look so pretty! The fair IS colorful – it looks like so much fun!
Hmm, I’m a big fan of thrill rides. ๐Ÿ˜€ So, I would totally ride that one that looked like a fidget spinner. AKA it who must not be named.
Mm…cotton candy! I like cotton candy, although it is EXTREMELY sweet.
I think that that picture you got of the person blowing up the balloon was lovely!
Ferris wheels are very aesthetic to take pictures of, aren’t they?
Bleh, it seems like every single blogger has a state/county fair. Now I’m jealous. ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. I love all the different angles, the bright colors, and the animal and farris wheel photos! I have gone to the fair but I sadly didn’t have my camera along and also we weren’t able to go on many rides due to price๐Ÿ˜ข. Loved this post!

  3. Loved looking at all of your photos! I haven’t been to a fair in a very long time (I don’t think there are any where I live now ๐Ÿ˜‚) but looking at this post I wouldn’t mind traveling to get to one! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ’—

  4. I have been to a fair once but I don’t really remember going. I would love to go again though. But the one thing I do remember was going on the ferris wheel. I always love that. Also, I think the picture of the guy blowing up the balloon was super great.

  5. Looks like you had fun! The only fair type thing Iโ€™ve ever been to is at my dadโ€™s work. I hate crazy rides, though my first ever ride was the Rock and Roller Coaster then Tower of Terror right after.๐Ÿ˜ต I barely get on the kiddie rides!๐Ÿ˜‚I like your Ferris Wheel pictures! It reminds me of the Orlando Eye, which I always take tons of pictures of. Anyway, I really do admire your photography!

  6. Ooh I was so excited when I saw this post because I knew it was gonna be great. And of course it was.
AH ITS A DONKEY OH DEARY ME HE’S ADORABLE I WANT A DONKEY. (Random fact: I dreamed I got a donkey last night and kept it in the kitchen) And wow, a giraffe? That’s super neat. All your photography is so bright and amazing and 1,000 pictures?? Oh my. And how have you never had cotton candy? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Gasp.
We always go to the fair in the evening so my pictures never turn out too well. But it looks like you had a great time at the fair!
Also the invisible rabbit thing is really funny. XD

    1. Aw, thank you SO much! ๐Ÿ˜€ I feel the same way whenever I see that you posted! ๐Ÿ˜›
HAHA I KNEW YOU WOULD SAY THAT. XD All of my siblings know how much you love donkeys – when we saw it, Abram gasped and said, “Oh! Take a picture for Megan!” ๐Ÿ˜› (Wow, what an interesting dream. XD) Yep, I wasn’t expecting the giraffe!
Thank you!! Yeah… it took me 2 entire days to go through them all and edit the good ones. XD And I don’t know how I’ve been deprived of cotton candy all this time! It’s so sad! ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜‰
Oooh, I wish we could have stayed at the fair until evening! That’s too bad about your pictures though. I definitely did have a great time! ๐Ÿ™‚
Yeah, I thought that was pretty hilarious. XD

  7. So fun! I’ve been to a fair, and this past summer, our family and I went to the Silverwood Theme park in Idaho! It’s more of a theme park (as you can tell from the name) but nonetheless, it was so fun! I went on my first, official roller coaster there xD Let me say, I don’t think i’ll be doing that again… ๐Ÿ˜› Great photos, Clara! โค

      1. It was! Haha, I was screaming the whole ride. It was only 30 seconds, but at the rate of speed it was going at… ๐Ÿ˜› No problem, have a great day! โค

  8. I love your pictures, especially the one of the man blowing the balloon – so colorful and vibrant! We went to the state fair this year too, though I didn’t get any pictures because I didn’t bring the camera along. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Fairs are a lot of fun! And…don’t tell anyone, but let’s just say I’ve never grown out of merry-go-rounds. :O

  11. I love your photos! I went to my state fair this past weekend, but it was not as colorful. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hahaha, that kid’s face in the roller coaster car is hilarious! He looks quite frightened.XD I really like the picture of the man blowing up balloons, too.

  12. AHHH YAY! CLARA POSTED PHOTOGRAPHY!
Wow, these pictures were amazing, dear! I love the B&W pictures of the lady and her pony, and the invisible rabbit… SO hilarious! XD Aww, the cow IS adorable! It looks like she got soot all over her face. ๐Ÿ˜› And wow, that’s so neat that you got to see a chick hatch! Even though we have tons of chickens, we don’t hatch the eggs, so the only time I’ve seen a chick hatch is probably once or twice when we incubated some for fun. ๐Ÿ™‚ Ha ha, yes… you could say cotton candy is sweet. XD
Oh my goodness, I LOVE the pictures of the parrot (or macaw or whatever) and giraffe! They are so good, and that’s such a neat photo opportunity! That IS a neat fact about snakes. Also oh no, poor Clara-tomato! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Sniff
Whoa, the Ferris wheel is amazing! I think my favorite picture of it is either this one:

    or this one: https://clarascraftcorner.files.wordpress.com/2017/10/383f8-fair72.jpg .
Oooooh, I agree! I love the one of the man blowing up a balloon! I think it would also look really neat as a black and white photo except for the balloon he’s blowing up, and maybe the balloons in the background?
I loved this post, Clara! Sounds like an amazing time! ๐Ÿ˜€

I haven’t been to the fair since last year, or maybe the year before…..not sure. I couldn’t go this year sadly because I was sick. I love all the colors of the fair, so pretty!

  14. I just got back from a week long vacation, and i couldn’t check my email the entire time, (thanks to my laptop) so now I’m writing a blog post and working though the hundreds of posts I have to read, and congratulations, you’re first. ๐Ÿ˜›
YOU’VE NEVER HAD COTTON CANDY BEFORE??? you mean you don’t have memories of being small, shoving your hands in for more tuffs, licking the sugar of your fingers? no memories of that at ALL??? :O :O :O
and your photos are so colorful! I love them! ๐Ÿ™‚
