Hooray, it’s December! I can finally listen to Christmas music without getting glares from certain family members who don’t believe in Christmas music before December 1st. XD Christmas time is fast approaching – and what better way to celebrate than to write about Christmas? Introducing Write Christmas! I mentioned it back in this post, and now it’s time to sign up and start writing if you’re going to participate! This is a Christmas-themed writing contest hosted by Charis, Abby and I. It’s extremely fun, isn’t super time-consuming, and can help you stay motivated to write now that NaNoWriMo is over. Let’s take a look at the details of the contest, shall we? 😀
Participants will write a short story that is related to Christmas in some way.
Entries cannot be over 800 words.
No profanity, cussing, or overly creepy things in the entries.
Each participant must choose 1 prompt from each category, so that they have a total of 3 prompts (one word prompt, one picture prompt, and one character prompt.) They must include all 3 prompts in their story. You can choose a minimum of one prompt per category. For example, the mistletoe word prompt, the cookies prompt, and the redheaded girl prompt. You can use more than three prompts if you like, but they won’t count toward your ending score in any way.
All prompts are from Pinterest. 🙂
Word prompts: (CHOOSE ONE)
Image prompts: (CHOOSE ONE)
Character prompts: (CHOOSE ONE)
The contest officially starts today, December the 8th. All entries must be submitted by midnight on December 17th, 2017. The winners will be posted on December 18th, 2017.
HOW TO SUBMIT:
Email your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Write Christmas Contest” in the subject line. Please mention in the email which prompts you used.
JUDGING AND PRIZES:
“We will be judging the entries based on creativity, how well you weaved the prompts, but most importantly – your writing quality. We want to read stories that keep us engaged, are interesting to read, and vivid and imaginative. Don’t pressure yourself into making things perfect, but do your best to deliver a story that’s the highest possible quality you can make it.” (Charis Rae.)
There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The 1st place winner will get custom Christmas-themed computer wallpaper, and the second and third place winners will get badges. We’ll also be posting the stories on our blogs, which will give your blog more attention!
Well, what are you waiting for? Get writing! 😀
