MERRY ALMOST-CHRISTMAS, GUYS! ONLY 3 DAYS, 10 HOURS, 28 MINUTES, AND 37 SECONDS TO GO!
Ahem. XD I finally finished writing another random post! I hope you enjoy reading it. 😀
Random Topic #1: Birthday Adventures
As most of you probably noticed, my birthday was on the 13th! My little sister did a birthday post for me, which was so sweet of her. 🙂 Thank you all SO much for your wonderful comments. ❤ I had an amazing birthday! My mom and sisters decorated with lots of purple/lavender streamers and banners and such and it was so pretty. I had a wonderful day in which I opened gifts from my family, consumed an unhealthy amount of sugar, responded to all of your comments, etc. Then, that evening, we went to a concert and saw David Crowder live!! It was so awesome. My parents didn’t tell me where we were going or what we were doing until we got there, and it was such an amazing surprise. Here are a few photos from my birthday:
This is a slide show of some of the gifts I was given. 🙂 I always feel weird posting about gifts on my birthday/Christmas because it feels like I’m just bragging, but people always request those posts, so….?
Here are some photos that I took at the Crowder concert! IT WAS SO EPIC.
Random Topic #2: My 3-Year Blog Anniversary + 300th Post
Guess what, guys? I’ve been blogging for 3 years!! My official blog anniversary was on December the 20th. Here’s the little notification thingy that WordPress sent me:
Why thank you, WordPress. XD
Thank you so much to Allison, Sarah, Megan, Sara, Kaylyn, and Yashvi for being my top commenters over the past year! ❤ I think it’s pretty cool that I’ve been able to keep blogging for this long, and it’s super neat to see how my blog has grown over the past year. I hope to keep blogging for many years to come! I may be doing something pretty big to celebrate this occasion…. you’ll have to wait and see if I end up doing it. 😉
Also, this just happens to be my 300th blog post! There’s your random and useless fact of the day. You’re welcome. XD
Random Topic #3: Salutations GIF Tutorial
Many of my readers have asked me how I made the little GIF at the beginning of my posts. I finally got around to making a quick tutorial. You can see it below:
Step 1: Open the graphic design tool of your choice. You can use Canva, BeFunky, or any other design site. I’m using Canva for this tutorial.
Step 2: Decide what you want your GIF to say (hello, greetings, salutations, bonjour, goodbye, farewell, etc). Then open a text box. Leave the sample text in the box and choose the font, size, color, and alignment of your text.
Step 3: Erase all of the letters in the text box. Save the blank white image before continuing.
Step 4: Type the first letter of your chosen word into the text box. Save the image, then add another letter and save it again.
Repeat this process until you’ve typed the whole word and saved an image each time you added a letter.
Step 5: Go to Giphy, a free GIF-making tool. Click “Choose photo or GIF”, upload each of your images in order, and then follow the directions on the site to create and download your GIF.
You’re done! 😀 I hope that tutorial was helpful to some of you!
Random Topic #4: Bunny Update
Ahhh, I haven’t posted about our bunnies in such a long time!! Button and Banjo are doing quite well. They have become so much more friendly and playful than they were when we first got them! Here are a few photos that I took of them when they were playing in their playpen this morning:
That blue thing that they’re sitting in supposed to be their litter box, but they turned it into their bed. XD It’s so hilarious and adorable when they both try to squeeze into it at the same time!
THEY’RE SO CHUBBY AND ADORABLE. Which photo is your favorite?

Random Topic #7: My New Fiddle
I got a new fiddle, guys! (Yes, it’s a fiddle, not a violin. XD) It’s so pretty and I love it. Here are a few pictures of its gorgeousness (with the lights of our Christmas tree in the background). 😀
I realized just the other day why I love playing the fiddle so much more than the piano or guitar or any other instrument – it feels so free. A guitar has frets, a piano has keys, but there is nothing on a fiddle to restrain your movement or guide your fingers – it’s completely up to you to produce the perfect note. That’s also why it’s one of the hardest instruments to play. Anyways, that’s just a random thought that I had last week. 🙂
I’ve been trying to come up with a name for my fiddle. XD Do you guys have any suggestions?
Random Topic #8: The Tragic Tale of How I Failed NaNoWriMo
*cues slow, dramatic cello music*
*begins to speak in deep narrator voice*
The date was November the 1st, 2017. Soft rays of silver moonlight streamed in through the windows of the dark living room and washed over Clara’s amazingly messy desk. Clara sat down in her chair, logged in to her computer, and began to write under cover of darkness. Slowly, at 12:01 AM, she typed the very first sentence of her NaNo novel.
“A stooped, shaggy figure sat in the corner of a dark room, his head resting heavily in his hands.”
Her novel was going to be epic. She was going to have well-developed characters and an exciting plot with creative twists that her readers would never see coming. It was clear that this novel was destined for wild success. Over the next few days, well-stocked on mint gum and Twix bars, Clara wrote 9,392 words, and with each sentence she became more and more sure that she was going to easily succeed in reaching her goal of 25,000 words.
Naturally, she miserably failed.
So, yeah, that was the long and unnecessarily dramatic way of saying that I failed NaNo. XD BUT I HAD A GOOD REASON FOR MY FAILURE! I totally could have finished my novel. Maybe. Anyways, I stopped writing about 2 weeks into November because finals for two of my college classes were at the end of the month, and I really didn’t have time to study for those and finish my novel as well. So, in the end, I passed my finals but failed NaNo. *sigh* I plan to keep writing my novel, though! I feel like I’ve gotten a great start on it. My main characters, Max and Clementine, are really fun to write about, and I’ve had a lot of fun creating this story so far. I fully intend to finish my novel and to try again next year to win NaNo. 😀
Did you participate in NaNo this year? Did you fail like I did?
Random Topic #9: Animal Shelter Update
SO. GUYS. *rubs hands together* Do you remember my post about when I volunteered to take photos at the animal shelter?? (If not, click here to read it.) Well, after I took those photos, the shelter posted them on their Facebook page, several of the animals got adopted (yay!), and I thought that was pretty much the end of it. BUT! IT WAS NOT. A few weeks ago, I was traveling with my dad and sister when I got an email from the director of the shelter. She said that she had something important to discuss and asked me to call her as soon as possible. Well, I wasn’t able to call her just then, so I messaged my mom and asked her to do it. I waited in nervous anticipation until about an hour later, when my mom messaged me back. She told me that the shelter director loved my photos so much that she wanted to pay me to come and take photos at the shelter twice a month. I WAS SO SHOCKED AND AMAZED. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I STILL HAVEN’T RECOVERED FROM SHOCK. I’m going right after Christmas and I can’t wait!! 😀
So, anyway, maybe that wasn’t that interesting to you guys, but I’m pretty excited about it since this is technically my first-ever job. XD
Whew, that was a looooong post! Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. 😀 Here’s some candy for your effort. *pushes a Twix bar through the screen*
