5 Ways to Decorate Your Bulletin Board // Collab With A Barefoot Gal

Good morning, everyone! How are you all on this (hopefully) sunny Saturday morning? ๐Ÿ˜€ Today’s post is a collab with the lovely Megan @ A Barefoot Gal. I’ll be sharing five ways to decorate your bulletin board, and then you can click here to see five MORE awesome ideas from Megan!

Bulletin boards are super fun! They’re a great way to display artwork, quotes, and photographs, plus they’re perfect for more practical things like displaying reminders or storing craft supplies. I keep my bulletin board on my desk, and I love how cheerful and bright it is!

Here’s what my board currently looks like:

It’s quite the random mixture of fun/colorful things! I love using my bulletin board to display all of the lovely quotes and artwork that I get from my pen pals. ๐Ÿ™‚ Read on to see some of my favorite tips for decorating your board!

You might have noticed the blue pouch titled “pen pals” hanging on my board in the photo above. Pouches like that are super helpful for storing all kinds of things! I made this one to store ATCs:

I attached it to the board by putting two pushpins through the back of the pouch. These are super easy to make and they have tons of different uses!

This photo display is probably my favorite part of my bulletin board! It’s very simple: just use pushpins to make whatever shape you like and cross some thin string between them – I used embroidery floss. You could do a circle, a heart, or anything else you could think of. I chose a simple zig-zag pattern. Then just attach your favorite photos or artwork with clothespins or paper clips!

If you want to make your bulletin board extra bright and cozy, add some string lights! ๐Ÿ™‚ I would recommend the battery-powered kind so you can easily turn them on and off. I stuck pushpins into each corner of the board and just wrapped the lights around them. To store the battery, I used two small pushpins to attach a box to the back of the board. I can store the battery inside and still get to it easily! Don’t the lights look so pretty? โค

Want to display artwork and photos without using pushpins? Poster putty is a great solution! You can get it at almost any office store or on Amazon. Just attach a small amount to the back of anything you want to display. It won’t tear the paper and it lasts for quite a while!

This final tip is one of my favorites! If you’re looking for a creative way to store small items, try an origami box. They’re quite easy to make – you can find a tutorial here. You can fold one out of cardstock if you want it to be extra sturdy. Attach it to the board with pushpins and you’ve got a place to store washi tape, extra clips, stamps, and much more!

Now that you’re hopefully inspired to start decorating a bulletin board of your own, here are a few printables that I designed just you! Just download them, scale them to any size you want, and enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Do you have a bulletin board? If not, do you want one now? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Don’t forget to visit Megan’s blog for even more bulletin board inspiration!

Have a beautiful day, friends!

  1. I love this post, Clara! Your bulletin board is so creative and fun! I love all your ideas, especially the pouches/boxes, and AHHHH THE LIGHTS ARE SO PRETTY! String lights make anything better. XD I have a pegboard instead of a bulletin board, which is super nice, but you kind of have to buy things for it instead of make things. XD Off to read Megan’s post, now!

    1. Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜€ OH DEAR. Well, maybe you could get a new one someday! Haha, most all of that gorgeous artwork is from either Allison or Megan. I’m afraid my art skills are pretty lacking. XD

  3. I love how colorful your board is! I have a board too, but I prefer to keep it a little bit messy. ๐Ÿ˜ The origami boxes are very smart! I use them to organize my desk drawers, and they fit all sorts of stuff. Iโ€™m trying to figure out how to make huge ones now. XD

    1. Thanks so much, Nicole! Haha, nothing wrong with that. Mine is usually quite messy. XD Ooh, using origami boxes in desk drawers is a great idea! Maybe you could make huge ones out of poster board? ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. Beautiful! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ BAYMAXXXXXXXXXX HE’S SO CUTEEEEEE. By the way, how long have you been doing origami? I tried it when I was like 6 1/2, didn’t work for me. I can make paper snowflakes though, is that considered origami?

    1. Thanks so much! ๐Ÿ™‚ AHH, I KNOWWW. Haha, well, my brother actually made the origami boxes for me! I’m not very good at origami, but there’s a lot of great tutorials on the internet if you want to learn. ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. This was so neat, I love bulletin boards, I actually have one next to my bed (it’s huge, almost as big as my twin bed) and I covered the border in washi tape! I loved all your ideas, especially the zig zag for hanging photos! Thank you so much for the printables, I really love them and can’t wait to put them on my board!
