Happy almost-December! Are you excited for Christmas yet? πŸ˜€ Today’s post is going to be a rather random mix of different topics – you have been warned. XD

First off, my friend Sarah has started blogging again after two years!! She’s an amazingly talented photographer and artist and a super sweet person!
Click here to visit her blog and welcome her back into the blogosphere. πŸ˜€ *gestures wildly towards the link* GO GO GO.

It’s been quite a while since I posted any photography! I’ve been busy posting reviews, collabs, and other such fun things, but I’m excited to finally be sharing some photos again. I actually bought a new camera a little while ago – it’s a Nikon D7000, and I’ve had SO much fun using it! In this post, I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite photos that I’ve taken so far. Stay tuned to the end for a fun photography challenge!

AHH, JUST LOOK AT THAT ADORABLE FACE. We got a cow, guys! He’s a 5 month old mini Jersey steer named Calvin. ❀ I can’t get over how little and cute he is!

Cal is still somewhat skittish at the moment, but he’s already gotten a lot more friendly. He let me scratch his head this morning while Maude watched jealously from the other side of the fence. XD

What do you think of Calvin? Is he the cutest cow you’ve ever seen? Hint: THE ANSWER IS YES.

After Hurricane Michael, we had a ton of branches and sticks in our yard that made for quite the incredible bonfire once they were all gathered up!

I somehow managed to get my siblings to hold still long enough for this photo, and I love how it turned out. πŸ˜€

Yes, I am aware that this picture is extremely weird. O_o I was experimenting with a slow shutter speed and got this odd silhouette. Do you think this photo is neat or just creepy? Do you enjoy bonfires?

Flowers after a rain are so pretty! ❀

I noticed the sunlight shining on this flower the other day and grabbed my camera. Isn’t it beautiful?

A few weeks ago, we had an extremely foggy morning that was just perfect for photography! It seems like we always have the most interesting weather in the fall – we’ve had a lot of vibrant sunsets, foggy mornings, and rainy days.

Henry the Great always looks so curious when he hears my camera shutter clicking!

Ezra had just discovered an earthworm in this photo. He set it free a minute later so it could “go back home to its family”.

I took this on a random evening a few nights ago while trying to catch Maude. She decided to venture out into a massive patch of weeds right before dark and not come back even after much pleading and calling. -_-

Here’s a little Lego photographer that my brother wanted me to take a photo of. I love how there’s complete destruction all around her and she’s just taking photos. XD

I can’t even handle how sweet Maude looks in this picture. ❀ She always knows when I’m photographing her!

This is Maude’s favorite bone. She’s never really loved toys, but I bought her this bone a few months ago and she’s loved it ever since. She plays with it every day and sleeps with it every night. She’s already torn a hole in it once, which I sewed up for her. I foresee many more stitches being added in the future. XD

I had many, many more photos of Maude, but I made myself narrow them down to my absolute favorites. What can I say? She’s so cute and photogenic!

We shall end with some night sky photos. πŸ™‚ The live view mode on my new camera makes it so much easier to get sharp photos of the stars!

I hope you enjoyed looking through my photography! Which picture was your favorite, and which was your least favorite? Do you have any name suggestions for my new camera?

Now onto the aforementioned photography contest! I’ve never done anything like this before, so I’m excited to see how it goes. πŸ˜€

How does this work?

Contestants will take a photo that captures what Christmas means to them. This could be interpreted in many different ways – maybe you could take a photo of your favorite Christmas food or capture a family tradition in a photograph. Entries will not be judged on photo quality alone, but also on creativity. I encourage you to think outside the box with this challenge! The winner will be chosen by me and will receive a $15 virtual gift card to Amazon.

The Capturing Christmas Photography Challenge (CCPC) begins today, November 30th. It closes on December 12th and the winner will be announced on the 14th.

Are you ready to enter? Submit your photo by clicking below!

As for camera names… How about Nikki as a reference to Nikon? Or Daisy 7000? XD I know you’ll find the right name worthy of your wonderful camera! πŸ˜‰

The Christmas photography contest is a great way to get into the festive mood! I look forward to entering. πŸ™‚

  3. HA HA CLARA WE HAVE A BONFIRE GOING ON RIGHT NOW. You should name your camera something strange like I did. (Like ffolliott. Or Ellington. Ellington is a good name!) I LOVE the bonfire pictures, Clara. The silhouettes are EPIC, OH GOODNESS. Man, all your pictures are amazing. I really love the ones of Ezra too! I won’t be entering in the challenges, but they sound like fun! πŸ˜€

    1. WHAT A COINCIDENCE. Thanks so much for the name suggestions – I’ve decided to go with Ellington! That’s the name of one of my favorite book characters. πŸ˜€

      1. applauds Good choice, Clara! Really? Hmm, I don’t think I’ve read that book. It’s the last name of a great jazz composer, though. πŸ˜‰ Aww, thanks! And but of course. πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you so much, Carlye! πŸ™‚ Hmm, let’s see… I’m really still a beginning photographer myself, but I would say that practicing as much as possible would be my #1 tip. I take my camera everywhere with me, and being able to photograph so many different situations has really helped me to grow as a photographer!
