Hello and happy weekend – I hope you’re having a great one!
Most of you probably remember when I posted photos from an old church a few months back. I loved capturing the interesting details and learning a little about the history of the place, and I mentioned that I was hoping to photograph more local old things in the future. I got my chance yesterday when we went to an estate sale for a local 1800s-era house! It was kind of sad to see the abandoned home, but it was also fascinating and really interesting to photograph. 😀 I hope you’ll enjoy my photos!
The woman who owned this house lived here alone for several decades until she recently moved in with relatives, leaving her decaying home behind. I saw so many things in this house that I wondered about – as much of a disorganized disaster as it was, I knew it was full of stories, and I wish I had a way to know all of them. There are so many untold stories in the world! Which is why writing is so great. *wise nod*
As soon as we walked into the kitchen, I noticed that the curtains were the exact same curtains that hung in the kitchen of the old church! I’m thinking there must have been some local store that sold them – I really wish I knew the backstory there.
I wonder what kinds of interesting conversations were held on this phone…
We didn’t go into the house intending to buy things, but we ended up leaving with this stack of old letters – my family can’t resist stories any more than I can. XD They were written by the woman’s son while he was in military boot camp – I’ve already read quite a few of them, and I have so many ideas for future stories now!
Lonely rocking chairs…
We shall end with the obligatory mirror selfie, which doubles as your daily reminder that there’s a real live human on the other side of these words on a screen. 😀 *waves cheerfully*
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post! I hope you enjoyed my photos – I’d love to hear which ones you liked best in the comments. 🙂
Have a wonderful week, friends! ❤
