Long time no see, everyone! I have resurfaced from the depths of October craziness to write a post about happy things, which is already making me cheerful and I’m only on the opening paragraph. Maya had the wonderful idea for this tag, then Weez and Jo both made me smile with their posts and also both tagged me, so go follow all of those lovely humans whom I appreciate! After you’re finished with that, we shall continue. 😀
Rules: List 10 things that make you happy. (Linking to them, sharing pictures, writing poems about them, telling jokes, etc. are all encouraged but not required.) Then, tag 10 people who make you happy (and notify them of their tag).
Prepare for enthusiasm and enjoy!

Stars will forever be one of my most favorite things in the entire universe. THEY ARE WONDERFUL. Bored? Look at the stars. Need some inspiration? Stars. Hungry? The stars will blow your mind so much that you’ll forget you ever wanted food. Lonely? STARS. I can keep talking about this until you’re questioning the existence of the word stars. Don’t forget to look at the night sky, guys! If you can’t see the stars from where you live, then come visit me! We can have a star-watching party. 😀

Dogs in general are wonderful, but Maude is the greatest pupper to ever exist. She never fails to make me laugh with her ridiculous antics – she’ll beg me to throw her stuffed reindeer and then do this hilariously clumsy bouncing to go get it. She CANNOT play fetch, but she gives it her best effort despite faceplanting every single time she runs to get the ball. She absolutely loves being at the vet and runs at top speed to jump into the truck when I ask her if she wants to go. She will let you hug her for hours if you so desire. Basically, she’s the greatest. *pats her head fondly*

My siblings can drive me insane at times, but they also never fail to be an excellent source of entertainment. I hear people talk about how they hated growing up in big family, but I truly wouldn’t want my life to be any different – I would be so lonely and bored without my siblings to keep things interesting! Creating weird inside jokes that we could never explain, having late-night dance parties, being ninjas in a completely dark house – a big family definitely has its happy perks. 😀

Having pen pals is an very lovely thing indeed! If you take the time to send me a letter, you pretty much have my undying appreciation. 😀 Decorating envelopes and finding interesting small things to send is so much fun, plus writing letters is so relaxing and a very nice alternative to being on screens. *happy nod* (If you’d like to see all my thoughts about snail mail summed up wonderfully by one of my pen pals, go read this lovely post that Megan wrote a little while back!)

I think I might have mentioned my love for sunsets just a few times before. 😀 I’ll spare you all the lengthy rant, but… just look! *points at the photos* How could that beauty not make you smile? 🙂 At the end of every day, God takes a look at this broken, struggling world, and He gives us something beautiful to end the evening – a reminder that the darkness isn’t so bad, and that we’ll be okay until morning comes. And now I’ll move on because I am very talktative (…typeative?) today and you’re probably wondering how long this post is going to be if I’m only on the fifth happy thing. XD

(…except for the creepy ones.) Okay, but fun interactions with strangers is one of my all-time favorite things. The pictures above are from earlier this summer, when I asked people in Publix if I could take their photo. The guy on the top left said I could only take his photo if I took a photo of the guy on the bottom right, and then that guy sent me to go find another guy. It was so much fun. People can be so fascinating to talk to! Random little conversations with strangers often stick with me more than anything else does. 😀

I’ll almost never turn down the opportunity to ride along somewhere, especially if the weather is warm and I can roll the windows down. And now I can actually be the one behind the wheel, which is kind of terrifying but also extremely fun! Being in the car at night while listening to music is one of the best places in the world to be. 🙂

Creating characters and worlds and just pouring them from your mind onto a page is the most wonderfully rewarding thing. Whenever I scroll through the hundreds of documents I’ve filled with stories, I’m quite unsatisfied with most of them, but it’s also pretty cool, because… our minds can do this! We can create people that exist only in our heads and send them on wild adventures with nothing but words. If that isn’t incredible, I don’t know what is. 😀

We shall end with something especially excellent! When I think back to some of the absolute happiest times of my childhood, I immediately have a mental image of six-year-old me on the living room floor, reading The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis for what was probably the tenth time and being absolutely convinced that it was true. Or being on the couch at one in the morning, soaking up the final chapters of The Deathly Hallows, reading the last pages, and just hugging the book in amazement. :’) Now, whenever I pick up those books, it’s like going home. ❤ I’m sure all of you know exactly what I’m talking about. BOOKS ARE THE BEST.
Goodness, that was not short. XD Let’s move along to the people who make me happy! This is off the top of my sleep-deprived brain, but please know that if you’re reading this, you make me quite happy indeed. 😀
humans that make me happy by being friendly and kind or writing me letters or making amazing art or leaving wonderful comments or some combination of it all:
I know people say this all the time, but if you’re reading this, please consider yourself tagged! I’d love to see Maya’s lovely idea spread across the blogosphere, and I promise it’ll cheer you up to try it. 🙂 So… go forth and share happy things with the world!
